What are the common tests used?
Psychometric tests are routinely used to evaluate an individuals strengths and weaknesses. Typically the Psychometric assessment is then used to help develop skills through a personal development plan. The tests fall into these three categories.
Personality tests
These test are a powerful way of predicting how someone will typically behave.
Ability tests
Measures aptitudes such as how someone will perform when solving problems or reasoning with verbal information.
Aptitude tests / interest inventories
These tests help to identify the types of work that someone would be suited to.
In the past these tests have been paper based assessments but most are now available electronically.
All of the tests used are validated by the British Psychological Society with the guidance that feedback is necessary from an qualified practitioner as even the written reports can be easily misinterpreted.
