Making some more choices
SWOT your strengths
The SWOT analysis tool is generally used to evaluate the position of a company’s products and services compared to it’s competitors in the marketplace. However, I feel that it is a valuable exercise for individuals to inquire into their ‘employability factor’.
The first step is to strategically review your career with a self-assessment of your strengths and weaknesses. When this is cross-referenced with an inventory of opportunities and threats in the external environment you have made a SWOT analysis. Having stated your current ‘employability factor’ in regard to your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats you are in a position to make some choices. Most people can create a SWOT analysis easily but then go on to make a real hash of the next step. We will show you how to apply the SWOT to other tools so that you end-up with a tangible output that can easily be turned into an action plan.
